HIV NURSE SPECIALIST

Full time (35 hours per week)
Salary range up to £24,000-28,000
depending on experience
,

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced HIV nurse to join our enthusiastic HIV and Sexual Health team. You will be working across London East PCT’s conducting rapid HIV testing in community clinics. These settings may include: colleges, leisure centers, shopping centers, youth centers and outdoor events.

You must be flexible and able to work, evenings, weekends and occasional bank holidays.

CV’s are not acceptable

The ideal candidate:

  • Must be e a registered general nurse (RGN)
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year post qualification experience
  • Must be registered with NMC with a valid NMC PIN number
  • Must have experience of working in HIV and Sexual Health settings
  • Must have Voluntary Counseling and Testing qualification
  • Must have a Clear CRB (Criminal Records Bureau Check- Enhanced)

Experience of working with and understanding the BME communities HIV and sexual health needs be added advantage.

Experience of working with young people - in either a paid or voluntary capacity - and a good knowledge of sexual health issues are desirable.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location                                  Newham

Hours:                         FULL TIME ( 35 hours per week)

Accountable to:                     Director

Salary:                                   up to £20-22,000 pa

Contract Duration:                12 months

JOB SUMMARY:

You will be required to plan and manage WOI’s Health Promotion services, co-ordinating and supervising the provision of high quality services as you develop appropriate health promotion activities and resources for the clients. You will also be required to assess resources and delivery of services provided, adopting where necessary to meet the needs of the clients.

In this role you will inform, empower and where necessary voice the needs/views of service users to improve the quality of the services they receive and access to services.

You will also provide individual/direct advocacy and telephone support through a drop n service to residents of the London borough of Newham, giving information and, encouragement of uptake of available support services.
