Community Outreach for Better
Sexual Health & HIV Services
We are a community based organisation working in partnership with local authorities and national organisations, to improve access to HIV/AIDS information and services.
We know that stigma and prejudice associated with HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) can prevent people accessing testing, treatment and care services. This has been seen through the increase in new cases of HIV infection mainly among the high-risk groups (gay men and African communities)
The aims of the service are:
To increase access to HIV and generic sexual health services in Barking and Dagenham, Newham, including GUM, GP and other HIV clinical and social services.
To increase the number of HIV testing amongst Africans and other BME groups.
To promote safer sex and raise awareness about HIV including STIs amongst African and BME communities.
We provide
1. Advice, information and counselling on sexual health issues to help individuals make informed choices around their sexual health needs.
2. Outreach activities.
3. Referrals and support to access other relevant services.
4. Sexual health resources including free condoms.
5. 1-to-1 drop in service.
6. Service user support groups and workshops
